PROGRAMS GRFA promotes art education through a variety of programs which provide educators with an inspiring visual arts integrated curriculum. George Rodrigue hopes to spark creativity in students with varying interests, especially those who might not otherwise be exposed to art education. In doing so, he fulfills his dream to provide children the opportunities and skills to apply the visual arts to any area of their life, and by extension, boost their self-confidence in their pursuits
The arts also help to transform the school environment to one of discovery. For years, schools and educators have used George Rodrigue’s art as a way to approach subjects in new and creative ways. With the following programs, GRFA will make it easier for more educators to use his art as a teaching tool and help students realize their full potential.
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE YOU A LOUISIANA HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WITH A CREATIVE DRIVE?
GRFA will grant monetary scholarships to high school seniors through an annual visual arts competition in order to encourage individual participation in the arts. Each year’s competition theme will be determined by George Rodrigue, and scholarship winners are not required to major in art to qualify for the scholarships. Also, GRFA is working to establish partnerships with both public and private institutions that will match the GRFA scholarship if the winner attends their institution.
TEACHING TOOLS The volume and variety of Rodrigue’s creative output allows for the application of his work in a limitless number of areas and provides a wealth of imaginative potential. GRFA has developed the first of many customized curriculums designed to integrate art into the core subjects using the work of George Rodrigue that is based on national benchmarks and standards. Additionally, workshops will be hosted for educators in order to introduce them to this new arts-integrated curriculum. If you are an educator and are interested in GRFA Teaching Tools, please join our mail list and select "Educators" in preferences. Additionally, you can contact us directly.
ART CLOSET
Due to inadequate funding for supplies, many teachers and schools struggle to provide meaningful arts experiences for their students. By gathering donations of supplies and/or funds to purchase supplies, GRFA will distribute art supplies to those art teachers and schools whose funding does not otherwise allow for the expense. If you have art supplies that you'd like to donate to the GRFA, please contact us.
