Monroe, LA Visit

We had a great visit in Monroe, LA on April 5th and 6th, 2011. The Masur Museum there hosted an exhibition of Blue Dog paintings from the collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art. Also, all of our 2011 Art Contest finalist artwork was exhibited in the museum and our overall winner, Savannah Bridges, from nearby Rayville, LA even joined us for the night!

While there, GRFA held a sidewalk chalk event with local elementary students and the mayor of Monroe. Plus, we even visited West Monroe's Ouachita High School in order to award them a year's worth of art supplies through George's Art Closet . At the High School George and Wendy were able to lecture their 100 art students on the history of the Blue Dog and what it takes to be an artist.

Thank you to everyone at the Masur and especially Dr. Armstrong for making these great couple of days happen!

Plus, for an in-depth look at our visit you can ready Wendy's Blog entry "Monroe (that's MUN-roe) Louisiana"
